Patty French, MA, LCPC, CADC, CEAP
Patty French is a mediator, counselor, addiction counselor, coach and employee assistance professional who has been in the dispute resolution and mental health fields for over twenty years. She has dedicated her career to assisting individuals, couples and families close the gap between the life and relationships that do not serve them well and those that bring them purpose and meaning.
Having received her Alternative Dispute Resolution Training from Northwestern University in 1995, Patty returned to Northwestern to continue her professional training in Divorce Mediation. With the completion of advanced divorce meditation internships, Patty is fully versed in the process of divorce mediation and effective conflict resolution. She is a divorce mediation coach for the Divorce Mediation Training at Northwestern University and serves as a board member of the Mediation Council of Illinois. As a past board member and current member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois, member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Association of Conflict Resolution, Patty is dedicated to helping couples and families transform their relationships in ways that honor their lives and values.
Patty is known for her work in counseling individuals and couples who are stuck in thoughts and behaviors that hold them hostage to unsatisfying lives and relationships. Her counseling and therapeutic approach is practical, educational and solution focused. With her knowledge, sense of compassion, spiritual understanding and warm intuitive style, her clients are able to heal and rediscover the life and relationships that bring them joy. Patty is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a member of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.
Beginning her career counseling individuals, couples and families who struggle with substance abuse and co-dependency issues, Patty’s training and experience in the field of substance use disorders gives her compassion and insight to her work with clients who wish to liver a sober life. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and member of the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Professional Association.
As the Director of an Employee Assistance Program with 18,000 members, Patty travels extensively providing corporate training for labor and management in alternative dispute resolution and mental health issues of interest to the workplace. She is a current board member of the Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol program, member of the Certified Employee Assistance Professionals Association and Northern Illinois Employee Assistance Professionals Association and brings a unique combination of education, skill and experience to her work.
